The Basic Down Footwarmers were a godsend on my Calendar Year Triple Crown hike! Supremely light and warm (4.3 oz), they are also packable—each to the size of an orange. Paired with a dedicated wool sock for sleeping they ensured that my feet were warm and cozy at night. For extreme conditions, they work very well with chemical hand or footwarmers inserted in them. What sets these apart is that they don’t have a foam sole to them, so they are not stiff. This makes them as comfortable as a pair of socks when sleeping. A drawcord system keeps them on your feet and serves as an additional way to seal in warmth. These are a must have for thru-hikers, mountaineers, and cold-weather campers alike!
